The Grand Alpa made its debut at Dusseldorf’s Caravan Salon and takes the layout of the company’s existing Alpa (Esprit Comfort A 6820-2, as it is formally know) and stretches it into a tag-axle overcab model at 8.60m long.

The Grand Alpa A7820-2, to give it its full name, is based on the Fiat Ducato and offers a large C-shaped lounge at the rear above a large locker with exterior access. In the lounge there are two TV options, you can fit a 22in TV behind the seat, or get a 32in TV and speaker option integrated into one of the overhead lockers.

The kitchen, which comes from the Globetrotter Xli range, has a three burner hob, pull-out larder storage, large soft close drawers, large fridge freezer, spice rack and more. On the opposite wall there is a whole array of units for storage.

Step further forward into the washroom area with a toilet cubicle on one side and shower on the other. Then at the very front is the cab with twin single beds. Folding steps slide out from one of the storage compartments and a door offers access to the cab.

Although, the 130bhp engine is standard, we’d suggest that no less than Fiat’s 150bhp power plant is suitable for this 5-tonne motorhome, which can be upgraded to 5.4 tonnes as an option). UK prices are still to be confirmed, but the model on display at the Caravan Salon (priced from €85,999) as shown was €122,076 with the 176bhp engine, and many other options.

See this motorhome in the flesh on the Dethleffs stand at the NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show In October.
