Dethleffs motorhomes and campervans: 2026 essential guide
Exciting and varied developments from Dethleffs this year include the arrival of its first 4x4 motorhome (now with right-hand drive), a supersized A-class that's family-friendly and updated Globetrail campervans.
Dethleffs motorhomes
Dethleffs is based in the far south of Germany, at Isny, and is part of the Erwin Hymer Group. Its all-encompassing range stretches from Globetrail campervans and Globebus compact models, through entry-level Just Camp, up to tag-axle Globetrotter and Alpa motorhomes.

Dethleffs Globebus Performance 4x4
The Globebus Performance 4x4 is Dethleffs’ unique adventure-ready motorhome aimed at those looking for more independence and freedom.
While it is not entirely new – it was launched on the European market last year – it is making its UK debut as this is the first time the Volkswagen chassis has become available in right-hand drive.
The 163hp VW Crafter base vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard and comes with an automatic gearbox, rear air suspension and chunky 18in wheels with off-road tyres.
To complete the look, the exterior is finished in a smart silver/ grey duo-tone paint scheme that blends the cab and habitation bodywork perfectly.
There is also a front bull bar and high-level light over the cab. At the rear, a folding ladder provides access to the matching roof rack, while a rail on the offside allows you to hang accessories while parked up.
Dethleffs says its new motorhome is equipped for “total self-sufficiency” and points to reduced reliance on gas for the habitation area. It therefore uses diesel for the heating and hot water, while the 131-litre fridge is a compressor model (electric only).
The only gas appliance is the two-burner hob, served by a 2.8kg cylinder stored in a kitchen cupboard. On the electric side, Dethleffs has fitted an AGM battery and a lithium battery for a combined output of 263Ah.
An optional Grünbeck water filtration system caters for safe drinking water and the waterless Clesana C1 toilet gives perhaps the greatest off-grid potential as you won’t be reliant on finding chemical disposal points every couple of days.
The 4x4 Performance also has a Campernet 5G router and antenna as standard, which should provide excellent reception anywhere and download speeds of up to 20GB per second.
Inside, the model has a half-dinette lounge, central galley and washroom, and twin single beds over the garage, which has aluminium chequerboard lining and multiple lashing points.
Key features
- Automatic all-wheel drive
- Right-hand drive
- Fixed single bed layout

Dethleffs XL Family I 7812
Dethleffs has expanded its XL Family range with the launch of this superb I 7812-2 A-class. With five berths, plenty of storage and an impressive payload, this family-friendly A-class features twin rear single beds, while above the cab is a drop-down double bed.
The fifth berth is created from the front lounge. This new model is built on an Al-Ko 5.4-tonne chassis with Fiat’s 180hp engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox. The low-frame chassis provides room for a heated double floor, meaning all the water installations are frost-protected.
Entry is via a 70cm-wide door into a lounge featuring twin facing sofas, along with a large table with a height-adjustable leg. The central kitchen has a 137-litre fridge/freezer with oven above. Behind the kitchen is the en suite washroom with a full-sized shower room opposite. The rear beds sit above a large rear garage.
Key features
- Luxury family-friendly layout
- Massive payload
- 180hp automatic engine

Dethleffs Globetrail Active 600 KS
Dethleffs has introduced its popular Active Pack for the Globetrail campervans, making these already well equipped campervans even more appealing.
Buyers get 16in alloys, leather steering wheel, pleated cab blinds, extra sockets and more as standard. There are three layouts, but here we focus on the new family-friendly 600 KS, which has a low transverse bed at the rear with a fixed bunk bed above it.
Both beds can be removed if required. It has the manual gearbox and 140hp engine, with upgrades for the motor, transmission (to auto) and chassis to 4,250kg.
Inside, a half-dinette features the newly developed Saturn upholstery design and, to minimise heat loss, quality flush-fitting windows come as standard.
All three Active layouts feature washrooms with a swivel wall and a well-appointed kitchen with a two-burner hob, 84-litre compressor fridge and drawers.
Key features
- Two double beds
- Sub-6m length
