Bürstner Lyseo TD Gallery range overview

Bürstner’s Lyseo TD Gallery range is a low-profile with a difference. A BIG difference. Press a button and it becomes more like an overcab coachbuilt – but with a BIGGER overcab alcove than would ever be possible if it was a permanent fixture.

Here, the overcab is an inflatable upstairs bedroom that really is up stairs – no flimsy ladder in sight!

The design

It's an award-winning and unique design (Hymer’s Venture S shares some of the design and technology but at a much higher price point) and, with the overcab bedroom folded down, it looks like a typical Bürstner low-profile.

It takes just 90 seconds to make the transformation with the aid of compressed air and a specially developed air chamber system and, as the roof rises vertically, there is no lost headroom at one end.

Then, with an overall height of 3.70m, this Bürstner truly becomes a vehicle with two floor levels.

Before launching the Gallery range, Bürstner also tested its innovative roof under a number of climatic conditions – hot, cold, wind, water and even snow, each with a 10-cycle test for 24 hours. The elevating, lowering and locking systems all passed.

Tim Niedick, Head of Development, says

We tested it in temperatures ranging from -30 degrees C to +80 degrees C, in misty conditions, with a 1.5m snow load, in the wind tunnel with the vehicle exposed to winds of up to 120 km/h head-on, as well as sideways. We put the Lyseo Gallery TD through its paces.

Hopefully, you won’t have to endure such extremes but, if you do, it’s worth noting that every Lyseo TD Gallery has a GRP roof and an Alde hot water heating system, as well as an insulated sandwich-construction floor, to make the vehicle suitable for all-year camping.

All pipes, hoses, water tanks and more are contained between the two layers of the double floor.

Inside, that results in a flat floor level throughout and, as with the more conventional models in the rest of the Lyseo range, the Gallery has pale woodwork and indirect lighting in addition to Bürstner’s neat, portable Home Light and headroom of 2.05m.

Choose from two layouts – 649 G or 689 G

There are two models in the Lyseo TD Gallery range – the rear lounge 649 G and the front lounge 689 G. The former is 6.99m long and comes on a 3,650kg chassis with prices starting at £101,990. Its sister motorhome is 6.90m long, has the 4,400kg Heavy chassis and costs from £110,190.

Both models come with typical Bürstner features such as a premium XL habitation door, aluminium-framed windows and a garage with two loading doors. But what sets them apart from other motorhomes is their upstairs bedroom featuring a 2.00m by 1.50m multi-zone cold foam mattress. And that upper level is reached by a real carpeted staircase that incorporates additional storage compartments.

In each layout a ‘downstairs’ bed is also possible, with the 649 G maximising this with an optional drop-down bed (1.95m by 1.36m) over its rear seating.

The 689 G has a full-width rear washroom with a separate shower and a huge wardrobe, while the 649 G makes the most of its more compact ablutions zone by incorporating a swing-wall shower in its Vario bathroom. Both models have a swivel cassette toilet, 100-litre fresh water tank and a central services unit accessed from outside.

Based on a Lanzarote Grey Fiat Ducato, the Gallery models can be enhanced with a Premium Equipment Line cab and Safety Package. The 649 G has the 140hp engine and manual gearbox as standard (upgrades available), while the 689 G gets 180hp and the eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Inside you can choose from Casa Pino or Sandy Grey furniture.
