While this represents a modest 2.6% dip in 2024, the industry once again cleared the 200,000-unit mark, a sign of strong overall health for the sector.

Of the total registrations, around 161,000 were motorhomes, a 0.6% year-on-year increase, compared with approximately 54,200 caravans, which saw an 11% decline.

Germany remains Europe’s dominant force, registering 94,134 new leisure vehicles in 2025. Of these, 75,368 were motorhomes, up 0.9% on the previous year, while caravan registrations fell by 13.4%.

France held its position as the second-largest market with 33,504 registrations, including 26,335 motorhomes, with figures broadly in line with 2024.

The UK completes the top three, with just under 26,000 new registrations. Although this marks a 7% overall decline, motorhome registrations in Britain actually rose by 1.3% to around 16,700 units, reinforcing the wider European trend.

Jost Krüger, Secretary General of the federation, said the figures demonstrated the industry’s “robustness and adaptability in a challenging global political and economic environment”, adding that strong visitor numbers at trade fairs and stable motorhome demand pointed to continued confidence in the touring market.

Beyond the established heavyweights, several smaller markets posted notable growth. Italy recorded more than 10% growth in motorhome registrations, reaching 7,709 units.

The Netherlands saw motorhome registrations rise by 19.1%, while Sweden reported the most dramatic increase, up 46.6%.

In the caravan segment, growth was rare, with only the Netherlands (+3.4%) and Poland seeing increases, further illustrating where momentum currently sits within the industry.
