Best Drop-Down Bed Motorhome 2026

Swift Trekker 540

Swift created something special when it launched its Trekker campervan a year ago, a campervan that we voted the Coolest Campervan of 2025. We said that it has the looks of an off-road adventure campervan but without the cost or complexity, and described it as “the most exciting campervan Swift has ever launched.”

Clearly recognising that it had found a winning formula, the company has expanded the Trekker brand into low-profile motorhomes for 2026. They have the same Trail-spec Ford cab and all-grey bodywork (cab and habitation) with bold grey and yellow graphics as their little brothers, while interior layouts are borrowed from the successful Voyager line-up.

With their black 16in alloy wheels (fitted with all-season tyres), these are motorhomes that will stand out from the crowd wherever you travel, but the eye-catching looks are matched to a proven recipe.

Of the three models available, it’s the Trekker 540 that goes straight to the top of the class and carries off the Best Drop-Down Bed Motorhome award this year. This is a seven-metre model with one of the most popular layouts for couples in recent seasons.

There’s a spacious front lounge with side settees and the electric drop-down bed above, a central kitchen and a vast end washroom with a massive wardrobe over the garage.

With travel seats that fold out from under the sofas and the possibility of making the lounge into a second double bed, the Trekker 540 has occasional four-berth potential but it’s best seen as a comfortable, spacious motorhome for two.

The interior, like the exterior, takes its aesthetic cues from the Trekker campervans, so you feel as if you’re on board a completely different vehicle to a Voyager. The Alba stain-resistant soft furnishings are in a graphite colour with yellow scatter cushions to pick up on the design of the graphics outside.

Furniture largely eschews wood for a mix of white and grey that continues the vehicle’s more adventurous vibe, while the decorative panel on the underside of the bed completes the contemporary décor.

The spec reflects that, too, with a 120W solar panel and an external shower, while blown-air heating comes from Truma’s new CombiNeo system (which was named Best Motorhome Innovation this year), which also provides continuous hot water and an ultra-fast heat-up of your H2O for washing.

Priced competitively at £78,590, the Trekker 540 is based on a well-equipped Ford Transit chassis with the 165hp motor and eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. A bike rack and awning are amongst the few options to consider.

Bürstner B66 684 TD

It’s not hard to see the appeal of a motorhome that has more spec and a lower price. That’s the story of the whole B66 range, which is based on the previous Lyseo TD Harmony Line but offers much better value in 2026.

The 684 is competitively priced, at £77,195, especially for a motorhome that comes with an automatic gearbox, awning, solar panel, lithium battery and oven included in the price.

The layout makes the most of the 6.89m length with a large front lounge, but the full-width rear washroom is the star feature, along with the spacious garage under the end wardrobe.

Rimor Sailer 56 Plus

European motorhomes’ kitchens are often castigated for their size but that’s never going to happen with Rimor’s new Sailer 56 Plus.

This is one of the biggest galleys you’ll ever see in a motorhome and even more remarkable for the fact that it’s in a 7m motorhome. It has a vast amount of worktop, a huge fridge/freezer, oven/grill and a coffee percolator, too!

With a face-to-face lounge, a washroom with a large separate shower and a drop-down bed that comes down to sofa height, this is no one-trick poney. And all this for £64,995 with a fully equipped spec.
