Motorhome advice: How to make a handy umbrella holder
Occasionally it rains when you are away in your motorhome or campervan, and this is when you need your umbrella nearby. With this project, you will be able fix your brolly securely – possibly near your motorhome's door – but it could be fixed anywhere, and in just an hour, too!
Best of all, it only takes one screw to hold it in place and a length of tubing of a suitable diameter for your umbrella to slide into. With basic hand tools and little time, it’s easy to make and keeps your umbrella close to hand.

1 You need one piece of tubing with a diameter of about one-and-a-half-inches. Cut it down to about six inches in length using a hacksaw. Deburr the sawn edges using either a curved file or coarse sandpaper

2 Drill one large hole in the front of the tube so that your screwdriver will fit through it

3 Drill another small hole opposite the large one to take a small screw – choose a length to suit the panel you’re affixing it to. Make sure it’s not too long; you don’t want to screw through to the shower cubicle or through an outside wall!

4 Find a suitable place and fix the tube. It’s probably ideal to stash it near the door. Only a single screw is needed to hold it in place

5 Then just push the rolled up brolly into the tube. It is then very safely held and will not fall over. It’ll be handy when we get a bit of rain!
