Wheelhome
Wheelhome occupies a unique position among motorhome manufacturers in that their entire output could pass as standard family motors, in fact their largest motorhome, the Panache, is based upon a Fiat Panorama built by Fiat to Wheelhome specifications.
The finished products look as if they have emerged from a high-tech, modern factory, yet bar the upholstery and some of the special paint jobs, they are all designed and built in-house at their Essex base.
The Skamper is based on the 50mpg Fiat Fiorinio and won this year’s Which Motorcaravan Design & Innovation Award as a result of Wheelhome deciding, in typical fashion, that it was about time someone built a vehicle with a bedroom inside a sideways, electrically operated, extendible, elevating roof. During short stop-offs en-route, the bed extensions can be kept in the retracted position, still allowing full standing height inside.
The company is now celebrating its 25th anniversary and after being showered with awards for last year’s highly innovative Skamper, they’ve done it again with the deviously clever little Vikenze. Earlier this year, the Vikenze won MMM’s Best Small Motorhome/Camper award and followed it up with the award for “Best Multi-purpose Motorhome” from Which Motorhome.
Wheelhome has previously traded direct, but they now have their first retail outlet at Motor Plus in Derby.
