NEW 2019 Laika motorhomes

9d449407-1ed6-47d0-a69e-05002e704f1c

Here are the new motorhomes launched by Laika for the 2019 season, as seen in 'The Essential Guide to 2019 Motorhomes and Campervans'...

Laika Kosmo 512 motorhome

  • Price from: £52,300
  • Base vehicle: Fiat Ducato 130bhp
  • Layout: Island bed
  • Berths: 2-4
  • Travel seats: 4
  • Gross weight: 3,500kg – 3,850kg
  • Payload: 545kg – 895kg

This Italian brand has introduced a new low-profile range for 2019 called Kosmo. Retaining Laika’s distinctive style and quality, this latest range has a modern and fresh look. Initially with three layouts (and a fourth one joining the ranks soon), Kosmo models all have fixed beds in twin single or island bed form. Interior headroom across all models follows the Laika convention and stands at 2.13 metres.

The 512 model offers an island bed with twin inward-facing sofas in the lounge (the 209 and 509 have single beds and a more traditional L-shaped sofa in the lounge). This layout still manages to retain belted seats for four, with two in the cab and a reconfiguration of the lounge sofas to make two separate travel seats. This lounge creates an incredible feeling of space in the front of the 512. The open kitchen and high ceiling emphasis this. The fixed table folds in half to allow access around the lounge and into the cab.

At the back, the washroom sits either side of the aisle with the toilet on one side and shower on the other. Two doors allow this to be closed off from the front and from the rear bed, or left as an en suite. The rear bed measures 1.48m wide by 1.80m long and is height adjustable to maximise the garage below, or make access to the bed easier. In fact, the storage here has been designed to be able to take a scooter and has Easy Lock doors.

You step into the living accommodation through a 70cm wide door (with twin locks), which is common to the Kosmo line-up. Also included as part of the standard features for the whole range are lounge skylight, sunroof, LED lighting throughout, central locking for the habitation and cab doors, a three-burner hob and slatted bed frames.

Kosmo is also suited for cold weather adventures with XPS foam insulation, and the options of a heated floor and insulated waste water tank. The latter option is part of the Kosmo Pack, which also includes passenger airbag, cruise control, height-adjustable passenger seat, cab carpets, Remis interior blackout blinds and a wooden floor for the shower, and much more besides.

Laika Ecovip 680 motorhome

  • Price from: £79,400
  • Base vehicle: Fiat Ducato 130bhp
  • Layout: End kitchen/washroom
  • Berths: 2-4
  • Travel seats: 4
  • Gross weight: 3,500kg – 4,400kg
  • Payload: 332kg – 1,094kg

This new Ecovip A-class offers a large front lounge in a 6.99m body. The L-shaped rear kitchen, corner washroom, double floor and space for a scooter in the rear garage are some of the benefits of the 680. The lounge offers rear travel seats on a spacious L-shaped sofa with another long inward-facing sofa opposite. The drop-down double bed is the main berth but, if you wanted this motorhome to sleep and transport four, the dinette can be turned into a 190cm by 115cm bed (as an option).

In this model, an oven and microwave are fitted as standard, but most Laika motorhomes can be fitted with the low-level Grand Chef oven/grill favoured in the UK market. The 680 also comes with a 160-litre automatic energy selection fridge.

Laika Kreos 4009 motorhome

  • Price from: £72,300
  • Base vehicle: Fiat Ducato 130bhp
  • Layout: Twin single beds
  • Berths: 2-5
  • Travel seats: 4-5
  • Gross weight: 3,500kg – 3,850kg
  • Payload: 349kg – 699kg

The Kreos sits at the top of Laika’s line-up and, for 2019, the 4000 and 5000 series models adopt the lighting concept introduced last year for the 2017-2018 season.

This particular model offers twin single beds (which are now wider than last year’s model), a washroom with a circular shower cubicle opposite the kitchen, and a spacious lounge up front. The seating area has an L-shaped sofa with two travel seats, as well as a second side settee. A two-berth as standard, you can specify an electric drop-down double bed on the options list, as well as a single in the lounge. A fifth travel seat can also be ordered at the same time.

Further new features include lighting columns that are mirrored, and improved locker door hinges, and many more goodies.
