Motorhome accessory review: Raleigh Motus Bike

Raleigh's Motus bike

What can we say… yet another electric bike! It has been one of the must-have accessories for motorhomers for a couple of years and the craze doesn’t seem to be going away.

Yes, there are still those people who say this is cheating (cyclists refusing to admit they are getting older and may need a little extra help every now and again), but it can be a massive help when getting from A to B after leaving the ’van on site.

The Raleigh Motus is available in either crossbar or low step style and four colours. You can also choose from a hub or derailleur system, but both are powered by a battery that uses Bosch technology.

The Motus is priced at £1,650 while the Motus Tour (with a larger battery) is £1,850 and Grand Tour versions (the bigger battery is mounted on the frame rather than a rear rack) is £2,150. Hub gears are a £100 option.

If you want to go electric cycling then there seems to be no better time.
