Motorhome accessory review: Anatom Ballater Womens Shoe

Anatom's Ballater Womens Shoe

Outdoor gear tries to baffle us.

Manufacturers use complicated, technical words designed to both awe and dumbfound us. For example, this shoe lists the tri.aria system, Anaflex Level 1 calibrated midsoles, Bioform footbed, Guigaro Speed Lace Eyelets and Vibram Pillow outsoles among its features.

What all this means is that the shoe should be comfortable, not too heavy, grip well and be a little more flexible than a full walking boot, but it’s not really intended for proper hill walking. You’ll need to read the literature to find out the actual science.

It’s in Anatom’s Quadra series, which means its upper is 100% leather (more aftercare is required than your average fabric shoe). The size 39 (UK 5¾) fits our tester’s size 4 foot perfectly, so bear that in mind when looking at sizes. A pair, in sizes 37 to 42, costs £130 and comes in a fetching shade of brown, while there’s a men’s version too, called Braemar.
