Essential Guide to 2020 motorhomes - Auto-Sleepers campervans

Auto-Sleepers Fairford Plus campervan

The Fairford has been part of Auto-Sleepers’ campervan line-up since 2016, offering twin lounges and four berths in an extra-long Peugeot Boxer window van. Now there’s an alternative Plus derivative, inspired by the Cotswold company’s export drive in Germany where the twin fixed bed layout is king.

Here, the Fairford Plus trades the standard Fairford’s rear lounge for a fixed transverse double bed, but there’s a twist. The rear bed frame can be rearranged into a pair of settees; this action allows the frame to also fold to the sides, creating a huge storage area. Thule load-bearing rails on the roof are ideal for the fitting of a kayak, if needed.

Auto-Sleepers has shown off the area’s versatility with a mobility scooter on-board or fitted out with a bespoke dog bed, as an option (there are fixings for pet harnesses).

A bespoke dog bed is available in the Auto-Sleepers Fairford Plus

A wind-out second awning over the rear doors is sure to be a popular option.

Up front, the model retains the pullman dinette seating, now with a continental-style fixed table, which lowers to make a second double bed that’s 1.90m by 1.35m.

Alongside the dining area, the kitchen impresses with its acreage of worktop, as well as its specification, which includes a microwave, oven and grill and even fitted crystal wine glasses.

The washroom is also carried over from the Fairford, with its neat sliding basin (for more showering space).

And, as ever on an Auto-Sleeper, standard specification is high, especially if you’ve added the Premium Pack.

Auto-Sleepers Warwick XL campervan

Rear lounges are incredibly versatile, and no more so that than in this Warwick XL. That ‘XL’ indicates it is built on the extra-long Peugeot Boxer, which means there is enough space for two long sofas in the rear that can be made up into single beds at night (or easily converted into a huge double).

The other standout feature in this XL is a fully separate shower in the washroom, allowing you to be self-sufficient when travelling (opening up the possibility of using low-cost stopovers across the UK and Europe). The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, too.

As can be expected from an Auto-Sleeper, standard equipment levels are high and include the 165bhp engine, built-in WiFi system (SIM card needed), Dometic microwave, 6kW heating, Category 6 tracker and more.

Auto-Sleepers Symbol campervan

One of Auto-Sleepers’ longest-running models, this Symbol offers spacious comfortable living but on a medium-wheelbase campervan that’s car park and ferry friendly.

With the lounge position by that big sliding door and plenty of seating options for the two occupants, this is the reason you’ll want this campervan. Simply open the door and relax looking out at the scenery – perfection.

This lounge can make a double bed or two singles if preferred, while the kitchen and washroom are located at the rear opposite each other.

Even though this is one of Auto-Sleepers’ smallest campers you get the same level of luxury and equipment as its bigger models, with an underfloor Whale heating system maximising the interior space for the coming season.
