The Ford Transit-based Chausson S514 is a narrow ( just 2.1m wide), compact (5.99m long) low-profile that offers buyers a real coachbuilt alternative to a campervan. Because it is a coachbuilt, it offers several advantages over a campervan with equivalent exterior dimensions, including more interior space, far better sound and heat insulation, a real garage and a more spacious modular shower room.

And for 2023, the S514 is available in a new Sport Line trim, which means buyers get the Transit’s most powerful 170bhp engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission, as well as alloy wheels, solar panel, external awning, diesel heating and panoramic skylight, etc. The new Sport Line also gets an exclusive look with a Grey Matter cab and exterior body, exclusive radiator grille and exclusive upholstery, as well as other design and storage solutions.

Inside the S514 Sport Line

The aim of the S514, which has four fully belted travel seats, is to cater to those who want the manoeuvrable dimensions of a campervan, but all the benefits of a coachbuilt. As such, it is much narrower than a classic low-profile. However, it offers the same structure and insulation of a coachbuilt.

Buyers will, therefore, benefit from a seven-year warranty against water ingress, as well as a floor thickness surpassing the market standard of 65mm, GRP roof, floor and sides, Styrofoam insulation and the highest Grade III insulation rating.

The S514 also features a modular garage thanks to its ingenious butterfly rear double bed; owners can not only adjust the height of the garage, but it also gives instant access to the storage space in the garage below.

Another highlight is its clever shower room, which, thanks to its pivoting partition, offers either the toilet or the shower area, meaning a more spacious shower room (including height) than in a campervan.

This high-spec special edition low-profile Chausson is less than seven metres long and yet offers a host of unique features, including a modular C-shaped lounge that can comfortably seat up to eight people.

It also has two extra-large entrance doors: the main entrance and a side entrance to access the garage and the storage space. It is the first motorhome with a glass wall to separate the kitchen from the lounge; this makes its design particularly refined and modern.

The layout is also something that sets this model apart – it won the European Innovation Awards ‘Layout of the year 2022’ category – and sees a rear garage large enough for two cycles, a central washroom with swing-wall shower, a fully equipped galley and that large lounge at the front with an electric drop-down bed above.

And, for 2023, Chausson is offering the 660 Titanium as a special Ultimate edition, which means buyers get the best equipment, such as an automatic gearbox, powerful 170bhp engine and solar panel, etc. In addition, each model will be individually numbered, making it unique to each buyer.

Sharing the very high specification as its sibling, the 660 Titanium Ultimate, this 640 features an equally impressive layout.

At the rear is a full garage, allowing space for two bicycles or a scooter thanks to it taking up the entire width of the motorhome. It is heated, illuminated and equipped with stowage hooks, electric sockets and two doors, plus there is access from inside the motorhome.

Forward of this, you will find a full-width maxi washroom with a spacious shower cubicle, and the large wardrobe is easy to access through two mirrored doors.

The well-equipped galley is centrally located and ahead of this is a huge lounge with face-to-face sofas and a large drop-down double bed (160cm wide). This Smartlounge also has a trick up its sleeve, as it can be transformed quickly from sofas into two comfortable belted travel seats for use on the road.

As with its sibling, every 640 Titanium Ultimate will have a unique design with exclusive exterior graphics and upholstery, and new gloss black 16in alloy wheels, etc. Each one will also be numbered, making every model unique.
