Time for tea, so long as it’s served in porcelain
China clay, from which fine porcelain tea services are made, was once a thriving Cornish industry, one which still defines the area around St Austell.
Less than four miles to the west, in the village of Sticker, is a residential park-home estate by the name of Glenleigh.
From the park, you can just make out in the far distance the shape of some disused china clay mine buildings.
Established several decades ago, Glenleigh was redeveloped in the early nineties. In 2015 Wyldecrest, one of the largest residential estate groups in the country, purchased this park.
They have been busy upgrading it and laying down new plots ever since.
The park, more or less on level ground with 65 plots, is roughly rectangular in shape with extensive views across the surrounding rural Cornish countryside.
Nearly all plots incorporate car parking space, with 50 freestanding garages being available for hire.
There are extensive sandy beaches just a few miles away. All are linked by the South West Peninsula Coast Path, which provides endless opportunities for those who enjoy walking.
Minimum age at Glenleigh is 50. New occupiers may bring pets (cats or dogs) but they cannot be replaced
At the time of our visit there was a 1998 42ft x 20 Stately Cardigan Cottage for sale, price £95,000. Several new plots had been snapped up although there may be a couple more coming on stream in the near future. Plot fees start at £165 per calendar month
