Sunbeach Holiday Park

Sunbeach Holiday Park
SITUATED right on the shore overlooking Cardigan Bay, Sunbeach Holiday Park is perfectly placed for a seaside or countryside escape, with the waves lapping at the doorstep and a gorgeous backdrop of the Cambrian Mountains behind.

The park, protected by a security barrier, has plenty of facilities if you like to stay put. The mini-market, the Driftwood Clubhouse and Restaurant and the launderette provide for everyday catering needs, and there are also a children’s playground and a teenagers’ games room, plus a heated outdoor swimming pool in the summer months. But with its own beach frontage, Sunbeach also has a boat park for those who want to mess about on the water, and sea fishing will keep keen anglers occupied.

Inland, there are plenty of walks and climbs within easy reach, particularly around the Cader Idris mountain range, while the Beautiful Mawddach and Dyfi estuaries are ideal for gentler expeditions on foot.

Nature lovers will want to visit the nearby RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve, where Welsh oak woodland meets wet grassland and salt marshes, rare butterflies and plants abound and birdwatchers can enjoy the company of wading birds such as lapwings and redshanks.

Attractions in the area include the Llanfair Caverns, an old slate mine, the Centre for Alternative Technology and the Llywernog silver/lead mine, which offers a fascinating insight into life 200 years ago, when the enterprise employed more than 60 people.

The park is open 11 months of the year and dogs are welcome – there are even special dog walks on site.
