Blisworth Park, Northamptonshire

Blisworth Park, Northamptonshire
THE area is well situated for outdoor leisure activities including fishing, rambling and boating, centred on the nearby Grand Union Canal. For sports enthusiasts, Towcester racecourse, Silverstone circuit, Billing Aquadrome and excellent golf courses are a short drive away.

Towcester is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and is the oldest town in Northamptonshire, with a long, varied history. Many of the homes and businesses that line Watling Street are Grade 2 listed, and the central area is designated a conservation area.

The lively Watling Street, the business and commercial lifeline of the town, lies alongside many areas of rural tranquillity.

The Norman Church of St Lawrence is well worth a visit. Descriptive leaflets have been produced detailing items of interest within the church building and in the churchyard, which is managed as a conservation area. The Italianate Town Hall building was erected in 1865 as a Town Hall and Corn Exchange, and forms the focal point of the Market Square.

You can enjoy a riverside walk along landscaped footpaths, which lead alongside the Silverstone Brook and link the shopping area with the Towcester Centre for Leisure. Close to Buckingham Way is Nicholas Hawksmoor Pocket Park, a conservation area including a pond and meadow.

After your stroll, you could always call in at the Saracen’s Head, a typical coaching inn built in the 16th century. Charles Dickens often stayed here, and the inn is mentioned in the Pickwick Papers.

Blisworth village caters for basic needs and includes a self-serve supermarket, newsagent and an excellent group medical practice. A regular bus service provides access to larger stores and supermarkets in Northampton.

Blisworth Park has recently undergone a comprehensive re-development to a high standard, and can provide homes in a tastefully landscaped environment.

Regular services to the park provide dairy products, greengrocery, newspapers and a twice-weekly fresh meat delivery service. A mobile library is available to residents on a regular basis outside the park entrance.
