Full Review

The designations Skyliner and Starliner have been added to the Buccaneer names to indicate a key difference. The three Starliner models have MTPLM figures of 2,250kg, compared with Skyliner’s 2,000kg, giving Starliners enhanced payload. They have enhanced spec, too, including two televisions and an air-conditioning unit.

New styling involves matt grey lower kitchen cabinets, upholstery that brings together fawn suede effect with pale ivory slub fabric, and seat backs with a stitching pattern that takes its inspiration from geometric shapes. Six cushions are in three colours and textures: dark green, plain fawn with a velvety feel, and bolster cushions in a tactile plush fabric. The whole look is elegant and at the same time cosy.

The Starliner Barracuda – the first of the Starliner Buccaneers to emerge from the factory – is one of two L-shaped lounge models in the range. This one has the media wall on the offside, and a rear bedroom. And it comes with not only a television for the lounge, but one for the bedroom, too.

The media wall has a shelf running its whole length plus two lower shelves that stylishly curve about two thirds along their length.

The kitchen’s slight L-shape creates a good amount of surface to the left of the large rectangular sink. A generously sized cabinet houses two large metal basket shelves that pull out on individual runners. The table cabinet is alongside it. Two double-doored cabinets are above the kitchen, simply but beautifully styled with two shiny steel bands across the linen-look finish.

Herringbone pattern defines the splashback, again, simplicity of style works a treat here.

Opposite is the large Dometic fridge with separate freezer and above it is the microwave. Alongside the door is a two-shelf cabinet with a long mirror above, bordered by cream panels that have the same metal banding as the top lockers. Two coat hooks are conveniently close to the door.

The shower has a pale grey marble effect panel on one wall, and the temperature control and riser bar are mounted on a gloss grey panel that curves around the corner. The matt grey door that divides the wash area from the kitchen opens to reveal a washbasin on top of a marble-effect shelf that matches the panel in the shower. Two double wall cabinets, one with mirrored doors, and a double lower cabinet, together offer more storage space than most washrooms.

A sliding door separates this area from the bedroom. The bed retracts to increase floor space. There’s a corner dressing table with matt grey finish on the lower cabinet door; the same finish is used for the three drawers that sit under each of the wardrobes.

The new Barracuda, in Starliner spec, includes an automatic self-levelling system, a 40-litre on-board water tank and an Aquasource waterline for direct connection to a tap on a pitch. It’s a splendid package of luxury with a sophisticated ambience.

Weights and dimensions are yet to be announced.
