Swift has unveiled a six-berth, eight-feet-wide luxury caravan with a drop-down double bed.

The Elegance Grande 655, launched at the NEC Motorhome and Caravan Show, is eight feet wide and has a layout never before seen. It has a double bed which hinges down from the offside wall above an L-shaped sofa.

The kitchen is also L-shaped; it’s to the rear of the bed sofa area and has a Dometic 190-litre fridge-freezer aft of the kitchen. Opposite the kitchen are bunks. The washroom is across the rear of the layout.

The large wardrobe, opposite the bed sofa area, has an innovative feature: double sliding doors.

The lounge seating is L-shaped, with a circular freestanding stool. There are two tables. One is for two people to dine. The other is long and rectangular, and can be used either in the lounge or close to the central sofa. The lounge has a ‘media wall’, on the nearside, with connections for a television.

A double bed can be made in the lounge.

The circular footstool’s top removes to reveal a storage area.

The 655 joins the Elegance Grande 635 and 645, both with island beds. The 635 has a central washroom; the 645’s washroom is at the rear.

All three models are priced at £33,725 plus £545 delivery.

Heating is the Alde system. These caravans have a totally timberless construction and carry a ‘lifetime’ water ingress warranty (which lasts for the duration of the first ownership).
