Why the Swift Elegance Grande 835 caravan?
A caravan must have luxury in spades to win this title – and the twin-axle Swift Elegance Grande 835 definitely does. With maximum width (2.45m) and an overall length of almost eight metres, the 835 amply ticks the box marked ‘spacious’. That’s a good basis for its luxury appeal.
It’s the ‘leather’ upholstery, underfloor heating and general air of luxury that earned this caravan its title, though. There’s a wide choice in the £45,000-plus bracket, so the Elegance Grande 835 came up against some tough opposition during our judging process.
As we said when we reviewed this model for Caravan magazine a short time ago, ‘At this end of the market, the ways in which a caravan’s luxury status is created, in terms of fabrics and furnishings, is paramount in winning over buyers who are discerning and who are seeking something really special’.

A look inside
The classic fawn and white décor scheme definitely defines this caravan as elegant in nature as well as in name. To find a caravan with ‘leather’ upholstery as standard is something really special. It’s a fabric called Ultraleather; it feels soft and is designed for durability. We love the way in which a diamond pattern is defined by stitching on the backrests. (A cloth fabric is an option – but why would you when the standard caravan has the luxury leather look?)
Caravan features have fashion phases, and drinks cabinets are a prime example; they disappeared several years ago – but Swift has brought this luxury back, in the 835. And with superb styling; it’s mirror-backed, so looks twice its size. And the acrylic door and recesses for glasses and bottles catch both the daylight and the light from within the cabinet.

What else does it have to offer?
The amount of kitchen surface and storage space also adds to the 835’s luxury appeal. As does its superbly cosy separate bedroom with floor-to-ceiling voiles and curtains, plenty of space around the bed – and an electrically operated rooflight. And this layout contains a cleverly designed feature: a wardrobe alongside the shower.
Closer inspection reveals that there’s more to this wardrobe than initially meets the eye, for it has a second door, opening into the bedroom. Another of this caravan’s features that sets it apart.
