Best Caravan Under £30,000

The winner of this category has to earn a big, fat tick in the box marked ‘value’, of course – but it’s the elements that make a caravan special that are important – and that’s what we assessed closely in the quest for the winner in this category

Best Caravan Under £30,000 2026

Bailey Phoenix 640 Black Edition

The under £30,000 price bracket is a crucially important sector in the market – and our judges looked for a caravan that not only represented great value for its price, but also something special.

They found it in Bailey’s new-for-2026 Phoenix Black Edition range. It’s all about adaptability and wide appeal. And it appears we’re far from alone in our enthusiasm for this caravan. Bailey tells us that it is the company’s best-selling model.

This adaptable layout is as good as a couples' caravan as it is for a family – because the lounge seating is long enough to make single beds, and because the shower and toilet sector is in the centre of the caravan, with doors at both ends, meaning that it’s just as en suite to those sleeping in the lounge as it is to the bedroom.

Two more important factors: it’s a spacious caravan, at 7.34m in overall length. It’s also relatively light in weight, at 1,438kg.

And yet more: its kitchen spreads across the caravan, with a surface atop the fridge, on the nearside, to augment the space in the main kitchen area, where an extension rises to give you extra area when you need it.

So, ample kitchen surface is another plus-point about the 640 – and kitchen storage earns a very bold tick, too, with a large cabinet under the combined oven/grill plus a double-doored cabinet and a drawer to the left of it.

The new 640 showcases a clever Bailey invention: the door that segments the washroom from the bedroom is hinged, vertically, about three-quarters along its width, so that it forms a cranked shape that maximises space in both the bedroom and the toilet/washroom.

There’s a lot to like about the Bailey Phoenix 640 Black Edition – including the black style elements that mark out this new range.

Sprite Major 4 EB

There’s also a lot to like about the runner-up in this category, the long-established and superbly popular Sprite Major 4 EB. Its layout can be compared to the 640, in that it has the luxury of a rear bedroom – at just £22,995!

And its MTPLM is a mere 1,378kg. Like the 640, it has a combined oven and grill and a three-burner hob. Uniquely to Swift, it has entrances to the bedroom on each side of the central washbasin.
