Buying a Bespoke Mattress for a Caravan
What are the big brands in caravan mattresses?
Komfi
If it matters to you, Komfi is a British company making mattresses in the UK. It offers a variety of styles and comfort levels at various price points, and will manufacture a mattress to your specification, as well as selling standard-sized mattresses. Komfi's brands include Ikon, Fusion and Harmony, each a range in itself.
Most are composite foam mattresses, but Komfi's Fusion and Harmony ranges also include pocket-spring mattresses if weight is not an issue for your outfit. If you need a custom mattress, ensure you have already measured your current mattress carefully, and then select one from the range presented on Komfi's website.
DUVALAY
Duvalay's sleep systems offer a great mix of comfort and light weight, making them ideal for tourers.
The company's range has grown to offer bespoke mattresses with cut-offs, mattress protectors, mattress toppers, pillows and even sleeping bags. Typically, its mattresses are 15cm deep, but it also offers 18cm and 20cm super-comfy variations.
Any mattress can be made to your specific requirements, with 'zoned' areas for specific support issues.
Delivery is free and Duvalay offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Memory Foam Warehouse
Memory Foam Warehouse has a range of own-brand mattresses, which are competitively priced and retain the important effects of memory foam.
They are sold in many shapes and sizes, and are made by many brands, including Essentials, Coolmax, Outlast, Guru by Zen and Knapton & Rose.
Custom Size Beds
You can design your own mattress online with this company which specialises in made-to-measure custom mattresses. CSB uses various types of premium memory foam and CoolBlue foam to create cut-off and tapering mattresses to your caravan's exact specification.
Linthorpe Beds
This northern-based manufacturer and retailer of mattresses has its products made in Yorkshire. Linthorpe has superstores in Stockton-on-Tees and Bishop Auckland, as well as offering online sales.
Caravans are a speciality and it offers free delivery on all orders over £149.
Belfield Furnishings
Belfield is a major manufacturer of standard upholstery and mattresses for several caravan manufacturers. It makes 17,000 mattresses a week at its four factories and 'devours' 4 million metres of fabric a year! You can buy its products as replacements for your tourer through a dealership or manufacturer.
