Full Review
One of the highlights of our travels this year was watching the sunrise over the Pennines from this campsite that’s beautifully situated in the peaceful Cheshire countryside.
This adult-only campsite, Welltrough Hall Farm, is located on a 270-acre working farm. One of our favourite features was the signposted walk around the fields. We felt this was a nice touch that helped visitors to make the most of the location with its far-reaching views, and our dogs loved it, too.
The site has two parts – one is a five-pitch (all hardstanding) CL, open to members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club only. The other area consists of a further 18 hardstanding pitches (fully serviced with electric hook-up, water and a drain for grey waste) and four grass pitches, that are open to anyone.
Electricity is not included in the site fees and is paid via coin-operated meters. A change machine (which also accepts cards) is available so there’s no need to worry about finding coins for the meter.
The campsite facilities include toilets, showers, an information shed, coin-operated launderette, dog shower, pot wash and WiFi. There are also glamping pods and huts.
Visible from the campsite, and only two miles away, is Jodrell Bank Observatory, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s home to the UK’s largest radio telescope. If you’re after the bright lights of the city, you have Manchester, Stoke-on Trent and Chester within a 30-mile radius.
A 30-minute drive and you can be in the Peak District National Park. We walked a section of the Dane Valley Way before visiting the beautiful spa town of Buxton, where we explored the landscaped Pavilion Gardens and sampled the waters from St Ann’s Well.
Under 20 minutes’ drive away are Tatton Park and Little Moreton Hall. We rounded off our short visit to the area with a walk around the former, followed by a well-deserved lunch in the adjacent town of Knutsford.

Our Verdict
Perfectly positioned to explore both Cheshire and the Peak District, this adults-only touring park has a good mix of well-proportioned pitches and pristine facilities. There's livestock on the campsite, too, which is a nice touch!
