Searles Leisure Resort, Norfolk
Description
Searles Leisure Resort is a large holiday complex set on the edge of the Victorian seaside town of Hunstanton. Don’t let that put you off, because this complex provides a touring park which is one of few in East Anglia that stays open all year. If you choose to stay here out of season, there are some fantastic-value prices, and we would suggest keeping an eye on Out & About Live to be up to date with the deals it has on offer.
Full Review
Access is easy, even for large units, and check-in is efficient. Searles Leisure Resort is divided into several areas, catering for everything from small tents up to the largest motorhomes and is self-contained from the rest of the resort. Most of the touring pitches are pleasantly divided with hedging, which gives a private feel to your pitch.
There are options from non-electric grass to mains serviced pitches and I think the mains serviced pitches offer the best value. These include hardstanding, 16A electric hook-up, water, drainage and TV point. Do note that the pitches that are advertised only as serviced are on grass, do not have individual services and 10A electric hook-up.
There are two large facilities blocks with lots of toilets, showers and a pot wash section. There is also the usual chemical disposal and a drive-over grey waste. Entertainment (available in season) and use of the indoor pool (available all year) is also included in the price.
A gate from the campsite gives access to the seafront at Hunstanton in less than 10 minutes, and it's a further 15-minute walk to the main pier area. Here there are a selection of gift shops, arcades and fish and chip shops to choose from.
There is a Tesco superstore, which also has cheap petrol and diesel, conveniently situated close to the resort entrance. There is a bus stop here with regular services along the coast between King's Lynn and Wells-next-the-Sea, so this makes it ideal for bus-assisted coast walks or exploring further afield without the need to use your motorhome.
Finally, you can enjoy lovely sunsets – yes, Hunstanton is on the east coast but actually faces west!
