Full Review
For an oasis of adults-only calm in the vast Lincolnshire countryside, look no further than Long Acres Touring Park, near the village of Old Leake and nine miles from Boston.
This five-star, award-winning campsite is set in rural countryside and perfect for those wishing to get away to relax in peace and tranquillity.
The campsite offers 40 level pitches, all with hardstanding and electric hook-up. The touring area is long and thin, lined on both sides by high hedges, with the end of the campsite overlooking fields. Dogs are welcome, and there is a small exercise area on site.
Facilities-wise, there is a heated toilet block with free showers, a separate accessible washroom, plus an inside dishwashing area, a laundry room, and a drive-over motorhome waste point.
Two miles from the campsite is the village of Old Leake. It boasts a pub, chip shop, bus service and a Co-op. The church is also well worth a little exploring.
Just because you are pitched within this relaxing location doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to explore should you wish to. The market town of Boston has shops, restaurants and cafés and you are only 17 miles from the coast. Nature lovers can visit the RSPB’s Frampton Marsh (a 30-minute drive) or the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, which is only 10 minutes away and home to the National Parrot Sanctuary, along with Bengal tigers, a black leopard, meerkats, lemurs, otters and more…
Fans of aviation history should head to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (closed Sundays and Mondays). A 20-minute drive away, at East Kirkby airfield, is the only place in the world where you can experience a running Lancaster and Mosquito together.
Also, within half an hour’s drive are Coningsby and Tattershall. Coningsby is the location of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre and one mile from there is the National Trust’s Tattershall Castle.
