Full Review
Briarfields Touring Park is a beautifully maintained adults-only campsite on the outskirts of Cheltenham.
Each one of the 72 hardstanding pitches (some of which are fully serviced) is separated by a hedge and has its own grassy area, too.
Walking around the site, there are lots of thoughtful touches such as planters filled with bright flowers and wicker sculptures, not to mention the magnificent trees.
The warm, contemporary facilities block boasts toilets, showers, hair dryers, a launderette, accessible washroom and an outdoor pot wash. The site also offers free WiFi and a motorhome service point.
Dogs stay free of charge and can be walked in the campsite’s small orchard, although there are plenty of walking options on public footpaths in the surrounding area. Glamping pods and a motel offer further accommodation options for guests.
Briarfields is only a couple of minutes’ drive from junction 11 of the M5, with no narrow roads or awkward turns to negotiate and would be a good option as a stopover site. The only downside of such a convenient location is that there is some road noise, although this didn’t disturb us unduly during our stay.
The campsite would be a great choice for anyone wanting to leave their motorhome or caravan on site and travel around by public transport, as it sits directly on the bus route between Cheltenham (a 15-minute bus ride away) and Gloucester (30 minutes on the bus) with daytime services every 15 minutes. We took the bus to explore regency Cheltenham, and we also visited Gloucester Docks, home to the National Waterways Museum.
Should you wish to venture further afield, you’ll find Tewkesbury, Cirencester, and Cotswold towns such as Bourton-on-the-Water, within a 30-minute drive.
Overall, we found Briarfields to be a superb campsite with top-quality facilities in a perfect location for exploring everything that this lovely area has to offer.
