Exclusively for adults (over 18) and offering a relaxing atmosphere, this campsite is in walking distance of the historic city of Wells, famed for its superb Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Close by is the village of Wookey Hole, which has magical caves and a mill. It's also central for visiting Cheddar Gorge, Bath, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Glastonbury, Street and the Somerset Levels. Open 365 days a year, it has all-weather pitches for RVs and motorhomes up to 14m long. Caravans, tents and holiday homes are also catered for and there's a new facilities block. At the entrance is a bus stop.

For those that would like to explore the delight of Somerset, Wells Touring Park is an ideal base from which to explore the region without having to drive again. Handily there's a bus stop outside the entrance, to allow you to visit the pleasant town of Wells (it also goes to Weston-super-Mare if you fancy a beach day). Thanks to a large cathedral, Wells is classed as a city and is the smallest in England with only 10,000 residents.

The cathedral itself is a gothic gem, having been built between the 12th and 14th centuries, and was originally constructed from local limestone that is from the nearby town of Doulting (which still provides the stone needed for repairs to this day). It also houses a pleasingly worn staircase and one of the oldest mechanical clocks in existence, so it's well worth having a look at.

The town itself offers a wide range of shops, ranging from antique and gift shops, to a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Head in the opposite direction to Wells and you'll get to the town of Cheddar, famed for its gorge and caves. This impressive natural feature is said to be the largest gorge in the UK and attracts half-a-million visitors a year, being set on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills.

Also close to the campsite are the spiritual delights of Glastonbury, set a few miles to the south of the site and renowned for its Tor (which is now under National Trust protection) and the caves of Wookey Hole. The site is also a handy base for the many shows held at Shepton Mallet, which is roughly six miles from the site.

No matter what you prefer doing in the region, there is plenty to keep you entertained here and after a hard day's exploration, it's always good to return to a pleasant campsite. Visitors to Wells Holiday Park will not be disappointed on this score and this is a relaxing site to recharge your batteries on.

In addition to the touring pitches, Wells also offers holiday cottages for hire and caravan storage.
