Bagwell Farm is a family run site just west of Weymouth that offers 320 pitches, 170 of which have electric hook-ups. Open all year, it has both seasonal, and fully-serviced pitches and offers storage options for the winter. From the site, you can look out over Chesil beach, Fleet lagoon and Lyme Bay.

Although it’s just a short drive to Weymouth and the sandy beaches on offer, the site is situated in a very tranquil location, down a long spacious drive bordered by wooden fencing and daisy-covered grassy play areas. There’s a dog walk and extremely easy access to the Dorset coastal path. Also on site is a children’s play area.

Although it had only recently been built when we arrived, the new heated toilet and shower block is now operational. This even includes a family shower room and disabled facilities. Many pitches are also suitable for larger motorhomes/RVs (pre-booking is advisable). The bar and takeaway is open at weekends during mid-season and there is also a pub within half a mile of the site.

The site consists of three stepped terraces, plus plenty of ground-level pitches for those who don’t like elevated pitches. There’s a telephone and small shop. The owners advise that ‘August is the best month to come because of the carnival and fireworks, but it is best to book in advance if you plan to come at this time.’

It’s also worth noting that the site offers seasonal pitches and caravan storage – this is ideal if you’re not a fan of regular towing, or don’t have time to tow your vehicle down for each visit.
