Details
A warm welcome awaits you at Watergate Bay, which sits four miles north of Newquay in beautiful countryside designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This beautifully kept, level, grassed campsite is well-signed off the road, with huge access and a modern reception block. Rockeries and flowerbeds abound, and it is quiet and peaceful.
The choice of beaches for visiting is endless. Watergate Bay is half a mile away, and the size of the beach guarantees it is never overcrowded. At low tide the beach is two and a half miles long and it is possible to walk all of the way to Newquay. There are also plenty of rock pools for the children to play in as well as designated safe swimming areas in the sea. For adrenaline lovers, the Extreme Sports Academy is based at Watergate Bay, incorporating surfing, power kiting, and buggying with regular championship competitions.
The campsite is divided into separate enclosures and all pitches are individually marked out. Each pitch has car access allowing you to park next to your tent or caravan. The pitches on the park consist of non-electric, 10amp, 16amp and super pitches which are equipped with a 16amp electric supply and mains water/drainage point.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a lead while on campsite. Also provided is a dog excercise walk which leads to open fields, allowing dogs freedom to run. Dogs are also allowed on Watergate Bay beach.
Four miles from Newquay means you can enjoy the picturesque harbour town with its longstanding marine history, shops and many attractions, and there are shark, wreck and reef fishing trips, when you stand a good chance of seeing dolphins, basking sharks and seals.
Newquay is known as the surfing paradise of Europe, so bring your surfboard and battle against the huge rollers, which come in from the Atlantic. If safe swimming is all you prefer, you are perfectly situated for secluded coves, soaring cliffs and wide open stretches of glorious open sands in the many bays which abound in this wonderful area.
If the weather is poor, children and adults alike will enjoy Tunnels Through Time, which cleverly depicts stories and legends of Cornwall, recreating many of the county’s most popular characters – fictitious and real.
The grisly Dungeon of Despair will bring home the full horrors of justice in days gone by! Holywell Bay Fun Park offers everything from pitch and putt to Formula 1, so come and show your skills.
If you prefer to stay at the site there is the Little Smugglers Club for toddlers, when you can leave them and enjoy a little adult time! Dinner is served in the little café, or in the bar, with nightly entertainment in high season. The perfect place to stay.
