Scarpa Ribelle Cross 2 Mid GTX WMN: Women's lightweight walking boots
Description
One of the lightest hiking models in the SCARPA range, this is a mid-cut walking shoe designed to offer stability, durability, and comfort whatever the terrain. The Ribelle Cross 2 Mid GTX WMN features a Gore-Tex ePE membrane, and a grippy, cushioned sole, making for an ideal choice for all weather conditions.
Full Review
I tested these boots on a 15km hike in the Lake District, covering a varied route that included grassy fell side terrain, sections of dirt track, loose scree, and a couple of rocky scrambles. Conditions were ideal for hiking; dry trails, clear skies, and cool temperature.
While the dry weather meant I wasn't able to fully test the waterproof performance, the boots felt breathable and not overly warm or stuffy.
Fit and Comfort
Comfort was one of the standout features from the outset. The boots felt true to size and offered plenty of room around the forefoot, allowing my toes to move naturally without feeling cramped. This extra space was particularly noticeable on descents, where toe box comfort can often become an issue.
The lightweight construction also helped reduce fatigue over the course of the hike. Rather than feeling bulky or restrictive, the boots felt agile and easy to move in, so I could pick up the pace when I wanted.
Trail Performance
Performance on the trail was impressive, particularly when it came to grip. On loose scree and dusty paths, the outsole provided a great level of traction which helps on steeper descents. The boots felt secure underfoot and handled the mixed terrain without issue, transitioning comfortably between grassy sections, rocky ground and dirt tracks.
Although I wasn't able to test them in wet conditions, the overall stability and grip in dry terrain left a positive impression.

Our Verdict
After a few hours in the Lake District, these boots proved to be comfortable, lightweight and capable across a range of terrain. The generous fit, breathable feel and dependable grip make them a strong option for hillwalkers looking for all day comfort without the weight often associated with traditional hiking boots.
My only reservation concerns the particular colour I tested (fog/aqua green). The lighter finish looks great out of the box, but I suspect the typical fell-walking condition may quickly show.
