PITCHING
It’s a big tent and like all inflatables, is pretty heavy so you’ll need two people to pitch it, one on pumping duties the other responsible for pushing the beams up into shape. That said, it’s still relatively quick and easy, with AirSpeed valves in each of the five beams. When pumped up to the correct pressure the beams create a strong structure. And in strong winds, the Tension Band System can be fitted to provide extra rigidity by preventing sideways movement.

LIVING
Living space in the Rivendale is exceptional, particularly for longer stays. The large front porch area provides plenty of room for storage, cooking and eating, no matter the weather. The large PVC windows and ventilation panels also make this a bright and airy space. Step through a big D-shaped door into the main living area which has plenty of space for furniture and for moving around. High and low level ventilation panels create a good flow of air and the pre-angled beams provide more internal floorspace. The skylight roof panel also lets more daylight into the living area.

SLEEPING
The sleeping area is split into three generously-sized rooms, each big enough for a double airbed. You can drop one of the rooms entirely, while the other two are separated by a zip divider. This can be removed to create one very large room. Dark fabric reduces the amount of early morning light in the bedrooms. Low-level pockets provide space for storing essentials and there’s a rear mesh panel for ventilation.

OUR VIEW
The Rivendale 800XL is a huge, five-beamed inflatable tent that is a dream for long, lazy summer holidays. Vango have really ramped up the luxury levels here. The built in extension is a virtually an extra living room while the living area and the bedrooms are big. There are umpteen features including the skylight roof, storage pockets, lantern loops, zip-up bedroom dividers and mesh-backed flysheet doors, to name but a few. This is simply a wonderful, family inflatable tent.
