WHO’S IT FOR?
For family campers who crave more comfort but are not ready to give up sleeping under canvas and make the dreaded switch to “tin tents”, this is the ideal option.

WHAT’S IT LIKE?
Versatility is the key here. The Galleon pitches in two stages; first you erect the main cabin, which includes the two fixed double beds, before assembling the awning. The first part takes five minutes at most and is easily done by just one person.

Simply open up the trailer, fold out the beds, and fix the canvas. And if you’re planning a short stopover or you need shelter in a hurry because of the weather, the design allows you stop right there.

For longer stops, the awning requires another 30 minutes or so – potentially half that time if there’s two of you. We’d recommend you pack a small folding stepladder to reach the high bits. The SE, only available in the UK from Manchester-based dealer Camperlands, adds an extra awning to the standard edition, massively increasing living space.

With the second awning fitted, you can remove the central wall to create one vast living space. Alternatively, remove the front wall on the extra awning to use it as a sun canopy. In the living area, the vertical walls mean there’s lots of headroom and plenty of usable space for camping furniture. The side panel can be opened in hot weather.

This is where you will spend most of your time and there is plenty of room for furniture and storage – including the optional kitchen unit. There are also useful storage pockets on the inside walls, handy for stashing small items likes books, phones and torches. There’s plenty of storage in the underbed area, although these can be converted into additional bedrooms.

In the cabin, the two double beds have comfortable foam mattresses and are at normal bed height, in self-contained bedrooms pods with a darkened roof and solid floor in between. .

The three-layer windows (PVC, mesh and curtains) give lots of light and provide plenty of ventilation. The Galleon has cabin roof linings, storage pockets and internal storage lockers as well as washable zippered seat cushions. The GL version comes with its own kitchen unit and is available with or without brakes.

The Galleon also uses the smallest trailer in the Trigano range and the low, compact body of the trailer makes it easy to tow and store in your garage.

WHAT’S GOOD?
Comfortable beds; good storage; large living area; versatile pitching options; Bright and airy with good ventilation
