What is the Khyam Family 6 like?

The Family 6 is a head-turning tent of the highest quality that can be pitched easily and offers wonderful summertime camping options.

Its sturdy steel poles give the tent a rigid structure that barely moves, even when the wind picks up. And the 5,000mm hydrostatic head means the inside of the tent should remain dry in the heaviest of downpours.

And if the sun finally decides to come out and the temperature rises, the ventilation panels and mesh on the doors will help the flow of air and keep the tent cooler.

Launched in 2021, the Family 6 boasts the same design as Khyam’s popular AirTek 6, the main difference being the use of poles rather than inflatable beams.

The Family 6 will comfortably sleep six in its three king-size bedrooms, each separated by a zipped divides. Each sleeping compartment can fit a full-size double airbed and, with the option of adding an additional two-man inner, it could sleep up to eight people. Alternatively, this inner can be used as a wardrobe.

The bedrooms are described as Sleep Easy – meaning they are darkened to give you a longer lie in on bright mornings. The anti-trip ‘precision pitch’ of the bedrooms is not the only anti-trip feature on this tent, with the front groundsheet folding down flat when the doors are open.

The large living area has excellent head height throughout, giving you that spacious feel enhanced by the panoramic PVC windows. The front door can be completely removed, but it also has a variety of alternative opening configurations.

The big front porch is a really useful space, which can be used as a kitchen/diner or for storage. It has a clip-in groundsheet, which can be removed if you prefer.
