VERDICT A perfect starter tent for families wanting to give camping a try for the first time
When it comes to tents, doing the simple things well isn’t always as straightforward as you might think, but Easy Camp have certainly achieved that with the great-value Palmdale 600.
There’s nothing flashy about this six-berth tunnel tent, but as a starter tent for families wanting to try camping for the first time, it is just perfect.
What is important in a tent for first-time campers? Firstly, it’s got to be easy to pitch. The Palmdale’s colour-coded fibreglass pole sleeves make it simple. Secondly, it needs to keep you comfortable, dry and warm. The main living area of the Palmdale has a sewn-in groundsheet to keep it watertight and cut out draughts, with good ventilation and large windows to let light flood into the spacious living room.
Thirdly, it needs to be big enough for your family to be able to relax and enjoy their holiday. The living and sleeping areas in the Palmdale have standing room throughout and are spacious enough for plenty of furniture. The deep front canopy provides extra covered space for cooking or storing gear.
There are organiser pockets in the living area and in the darkened bedrooms, electric hook-up access and toggle-up curtains on the PVC windows.
For ventilation, there’s a full mesh door at the front entrance and on the side, plus mesh panels with toggle-up curtains at each side of the front entrance You can also adjust airflow with the rear ventilation panel, which can be fully opened or closed.
For just over £425, this is an excellent-value tent that works brilliantly as an entry-level model, but one which you’d be happy to use for years to come.
