A new take on an old style, the Kepler 6 provides plenty of living space and good private sleeping accommodation, ideal for groups or older families
WHO’S IT FOR?
Larger groups of family or friends who want more privacy than a tunnel tent can provide
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
Pod tents were very popular for a while but have gone out of fashion recently – mainly because of the difficulty in putting them up and the sheer size of their footprint. But the Kepler 6 shows that when they are done well they are excellent family tents. Pitching is more tricky than tunnel tents but the inflatable technology takes a lot of that difficulty away.
The three double sleeping pods, all with darkened Nightfall fabric, are arranged around a central living area. Despite being surrounded on three sides, thanks to the window panels and the skylights, the living space feels bright and spacious.
The main benefit to the pod layout is that it allows everyone to have their own personal space in the tent while still having plenty of room to congregate at other times. The Kepler 6 also has an excellent front porch area for cooking and storage.
The waterproof rating of 6,000mm means it should be capable of keeping you dry no matter the weather and the storm straps will stand up to strong winds. It is worth remembering that because they have a very large footprint, some sites will charge extra for pod tents, so make sure you check in advance.
