Vango Edition 60

Vango is celebrating its sixtieth birthday this year – and this limited edition tent produced to mark the occasion is a far cry from the backpacking tents it first made its name with in 1966.

But, while this six-berth family tent may not have an awful lot in common with the early Vango models, there’s no question that it is the culmination of all the knowledge the company has gained in six decades of adventuring.

Vango was officially founded in Glasgow in 1966 – the name being an anagram of Govan, the area of the city where the business was based.

Its first big success was the Force Ten and over the following decades Vango became renowned for innovation and technical excellence. The Edition 60 has a limited edition run of just 100 tents, each one individually numbered. It is packed full of premium features but it is designed to have a reduced impact on the environment.

For £1,600 you get a package that includes the tent, a groundsheet protector, an AirBeam pump and an insulated fitted carpet.

The higher the denier, the more durable a tent will be. The Edition 60 has Vango’s brand-new 300 denier Dynamic Weave 300 fabric.

This is more like the sort of material you’d find on a caravan awning or a heavy-duty marquee than on a family tent. In fact, many family tents are made with 70 denier material, so this is more than four times the strength and durability.

The flysheet also boasts a 5,000mm hydrostatic head waterproof rating which should make it more than a match for the worst weather a British summer can throw at it and uses environmentally friendly ColourLok Eco technology, designed to make the tent last longer.

The interior is vast with a spacious living area and an integrated front awning providing plenty of options for day-to-day living and socialising.

The large PVC windows are designed to flood the living zone with light, while the Midnight bedrooms keep the sleeping area dark, even on bright summer mornings. A new innovation for 2026 is SkyTrack sliding blinds, which allow you to slide the curtains to exactly the height you want them, and give you more control over how much light gets into your tent.
