The UK’s Dutch tent specialist, Camping Travel Store, has added the new Karsten Blueline range to its display.

These eco-friendly tents are based on the existing Opera and Lacerta models and use recycled denim jeans as part of the canvas as well as recycled PVC groundsheets and zips made out of plastic bottles.

The iconic DeWaard Albatros is also now on display together with other models from DeWaard and ESVO. Their ranges of lifetime 100% cotton canvas tents, handmade from sustainable materials, have enjoyed a steady growth over the past decade.

The last four years have seen the iconic Karsten air tent range win multiple awards in the Camping and Caravanning Club’s Owner Satisfaction Awards for the Best Inflatable Tent, Best Lifetime Tent and Best Premium Tent Range.

For 2021, Camping Travel Store will have a permanent indoor display of its most popular models together with a large tent display throughout the main season at its showroom in the Hertfordshire village of Melbourn, near Cambridge.

The Human Comfort brand of camping furniture and accessories has grown and is available to view instore.

Virtual display tours are available via WhatsApp and you can email the shop at [email protected] to find out more information.

SHOWCASE

With every purchase you make, you are casting a vote of how you want this world to be. With this in mind we decided that we could make better choices and developed a sustainable tent to reduce the Waste Mountain, water consumption and CO2 emissions without compromising on quality. Our Karsten Blueline has it all.

Karsten Opera Blueline

Going camping has always been green but in 2021 you can go greener than ever with the highly sustainable Karsten Blueline tents, available in the UK from Camping Travel Store. The unique blue colour of these tents is due to the brand-new TenCate BlueCAMP cotton.

This is a mix of high-quality cotton and recycled jeans. Did you know that 640 million jeans are thrown away every year in Europe? Parts of those jeans are now collected, unravelled, spun into new yarn and processed into canvas for the Blueline series. Not only does this help reduce the waste mountain but also means less water consumption – you need 8,000 litres of water to produce one kilo of cotton.

By replacing part of the cotton with denim, Karsten is able to save 50,000 litres of water per tent. Also the unique blue colour doesn’t need any additional dye as it is brought by the recycled denim used.

Not only is the canvas recycled, even the groundsheet is manufactured from batches of off-cut residual bisonyl, while the zippers are made from recycled plastic bottles. Now that’s what you call eco-friendly camping! All without compromising on quality – and that’s why it’s been commended in the luxury tent category of the Camping magazine awards.

The design of the first Blueline tent is based on the Karsten Opera. A spacious tunnel tent, sturdy and easily pitched in 15 minutes, with plenty of room for two. It comes with an extensive range of storage options in Blueline-style. Following the success of the Karsten Opera Blueline, it is also now available in the style of the Karsten Lacerta tent.

De Waard Albatros

The Albatros is a classic among the classics! This camping tent was designed in the 1950s by Mr De Waard himself, founder of the Dutch family business. Over the years, this comfortable and reliable four-person family tent developed and the Albatros is now popular among camping enthusiasts worldwide. In the UK, it’s available from Camping Travel Store.

The Albatros is a durable, storm-proof four-person tent, suitable for either a weekend’s camping or a much longer stay. It has a spacious interior of 17 sq m. The internal space is divided into a living area of 200cm by 400cm and two sleeping areas.

The highest point of the tent is 260cm, but due to the pyramid shape it slopes down to an entrance height of 215cm. For extra sleeping comfort, you can choose a curtain divider or a luxurious inner tent.

The inner remains a lot warmer than the rest of the tent due to the insulating effect between the two layers. The outdoor living space can be extended with an optional large awning, and sidescreens.

When he designed it, Mr De Waard’s goal was to make a tent that was more storm resistant, stronger and of better quality than any other. In the years that followed, the development of the Albatros continued, with De Waard working at making it stronger, more reliable and more user-friendly.

The Albatros is made from the finest TenCate 100% cotton canvas which is extremely strong, breathable, water-repellent, mildew and mould-resistant and has moisture regulation ability. The canvas also meets strict environmental requirements.
