Everyone has an opinion when it comes to campsites, and one camper's perfect pitch can be another's nightmare.

But some of the reviews of this riverside site in Hay-on-Wye are probably the most damning we've ever seen.

"Post-apocalyptic wrecker's yard", "refugee camp", and "flithy" are just some of the words used to describe it by visitors on Trip Advisor, where 45% of reviewers rated it as "terrible" or "very poor".

However, just to prove that not everyone thinks the same, more than a third of the reviewers said it was "excellent" or "very good", praising the owners, the facilities and the surroundings.

NEGATIVE

"This is only suitable if you like camping in a post-apocalyptic wrecker's yard and enjoy an ambience created by empty gas canisters and bits of concrete, smashed up garden furniture, rubbish and debris strewn pitches"

"I wish I could put a 0 rating, but that wasn't an option."

"We found piles of rubbish, debris, broken down caravans and mobile homes. The showers and toilets were filthy and the camping areas themselves were either in long grass and tiny or quagmired in mud."

"There are abandoned vehicles and old caravans that have not been moved for years, it looks like an old scrapyard."

POSITIVE

"Friendly owners, nice bar, good facilities."

"if you are looking for somewhere to be at one one with yourself and wildlife, if you are looking to get away from everyday life, wanting to spend quality time with nearest and dearest, picturesque surroundings, amazing star views, camp fires, this is for you."
