Full Review

Dreamer, the French campervan brand from the Rapido Group, celebrates its twentieth anniversary in 2026 and, unsurprisingly, has announced a set of special edition models to celebrate. There are ’20 Years’ versions of the D55 and D68 in the entry-level Fun range, as well as D43, D55, D62, D68 and Camper Van XL in the premium Select line-up.

The Select versions of the D68 and D43 are also available as an ‘Up’ model with a pop-top, making them four-berth campervans. This D43 – Dreamer’s only medium-wheelbase Fiat model – hasn’t previously been offered in Select trim, so that’s another novelty for 2026.

Anniversary edition

As a 20 Years model, this D43 Up gains 16in alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel, LED headlights, automatic lights and wipers, a black skid plate, colour-coded bumper, front fog lamps, Artense Grey or Expedition Grey paintwork, a Skyview overcab sunroof, reinforced pneumatic rear suspension, a 150W solar panel, external gas barbecue point, two 92Ah AGM leisure batteries (fitted under the cab chairs) and Truma Combi 4 diesel heating.

New for 2026

This 2026-season model isn’t just about extra kit, though, as the Select range has seen some significant improvements. There’s a choice of new furniture styles – Nordic (with more wood – as shown) or Eclipse (darker wood with pearl white) – each featuring more rounded forms.

The kitchen has been redesigned and the garage area enhanced, too. The layout here is the classic Euro design with a transverse rear double bed. There’s a half-dinette lounge that benefits from extra daylight via the (glass) overcab sunroof but, as often in a 5.41m campervan, is a tad tight for space with the table in situ. Pluses, though, are the new folding side armrest, extendable squab and Isofix.

Under-seat storage has been improved, with a drawer and a plastic tray over the boiler. On site, the cab reading lights are another good feature. Sonora, Toscane or Dakota (shown here) upholsteries are offered at no extra cost.

Beds for four

In the roof, the pop-top’s mattress sits on slats and there’s a blown-air heater outlet for occupants. An optional internal insulated mat can also be added for off-season touring. The main bedroom is, of course, at the rear, where bed width ranges from 1.06m (nearside) to 1.29m.

The mattress is 1.83m long, although wall-to-wall there’s 1.93m to stretch out in. Radio controls, speakers and USBs are fitted back here but cupboards on three sides stop you sitting up. A mattress topper is available as an option.

Versatile garage area

Where the D43 really wins against most rivals is in the garage, where a chequerplate floor adds practicality and the split bed base allows half the mattress to slide forward so that you can easily load bikes or other tall items. With a removable false floor and forward divider, this is a very versatile space.

Clever washroom

The central washroom here follows Rapido Group’s Duo’Space format, with a modified shower tray that now has two outlets for more efficient drainage. The swing-wall design quickly turns the toilet area into a good shower with 6ft headroom and a little shelf for shampoo. Washroom storage is otherwise quite limited but you do get a fancy tap and an opening window.

Redesigned galley

It's the galley that sees the biggest update. It’s a compact zone in a campervan of this size but the new slide-out frame that supports a worktop extension means there’s sufficient preparation space.

The 85-litre Vitrifrigo compressor fridge is mounted under the wardrobe (featuring a 79cm drop), so bending down to reach the milk might be slightly awkward for those of larger build. The rest of the storage is in three drawers, so access is easy for cutlery, crockery, etc.
