Campervan Converter of the Year 2026

The only public vote in the awards saw readers, website visitors and customers name their favourite converter of campervans in the UK.

CAMPERVAN CONVERTER OF THE YEAR 2026

Woodstock Campers

The only category in the Out & About Live Campervan Awards decided by public vote is Campervan Converter of the Year – a celebration of the companies that go the extra mile for their customers.

For 2026, that honour goes to Woodstock Campers, a relatively young but fast-rising converter whose reputation for quality and transparency has clearly struck a chord with the campervan community. Woodstock Campers was founded by Harry Hughes, whose career started while he was still at school, doing part-time work for a local campervan converter.

He moved into full-time employment, and after learning the ropes – from pop-top installation to full interior builds – he struck out on his own, pouring his savings into a new venture just as lockdown hit.

It was, he admits, “the worst timing”, yet smart use of social media and unwavering focus on quality turned the tide.

The business quickly gathered momentum, winning over customers with honest communication, meticulous attention to detail and builds that emphasise both style and function.

Today, the company mainly converts VW Transporters (including the new T7 as well as the T6.1) and the Ford Transit Custom, manufacturing everything in-house.

Harry says he is “obsessed” with build quality and open communication with customers is an essential part of the Woodstock approach.

A visit to the Woodstock showroom, just outside the Warwickshire village of Fenny Compton, comes with a factory tour, allowing customers to see exactly how their campervans are created – a level of openness you don’t always see in the industry.

Standard spec is impressively generous, with solar panels, awnings, upgraded trim and lots more, all included, from around £67,000. All sorts of options are available, from upholstery to kitchen spec, to ensure you get the campervan that best suits your needs.

Communication with customers doesn’t end when the campervan leaves the showroom. Woodstock has a very active owners’ group online and staff are often on hand to offer advice and answer questions.

As Harry says, “Everyone takes a pride in what we do.” That commitment to build quality is backed by a three-year warranty, introduced only once Harry felt the team’s workmanship fully justified it.

With strong demand – T7 conversions are already looking at June 2026 delivery – Woodstock is now expanding its showroom, increasing stock and planning appearances at the NEC show.

New layouts for 2026 will include a three-seater sliding bed/seat system and more off-grid-friendly options, including hybrid gas/electric set-ups.

Harry says, “We always give customers advice on what we think will suit them best – we don’t believe in giving people the hard sell.

"If we don’t think what they are asking for suits their needs, we will let them know, although ultimately customers will make their own decisions. “If for any reason they decide not to go with us, then we like to know why, so we can see if there is something we can do better.”

Perhaps it’s no surprise the public voted for Woodstock Campers: a converter that says it listens, learns, innovates and doesn’t compromise on quality.

Spartan Campers

Last year’s winner in this category, Spartan came close to taking the prize again. Spartan wants to be known for innovation, quality and reliability, as well as its customer-centric approach. And in just three years, Spartan Campers has made its mark.

Every one of its conversions, based on used VWs, is handcrafted in the workshop in Coventry. Conversations with customers are crucial in the design process – and comments and opinions from the public form a vital part of future model development.

And one of the reasons Spartan’s designers are so closely aligned with their customers’ needs is that they are campervanners themselves.
