Best Fixed Bed Campervan 2026

Pilote Évidence V630J

Pilote’s campervan range offers a higher spec for 2026 and its V630J is one of two new models.

This is the typical single bed layout in an extra-long Fiat Ducato panel van but it has been redesigned this season to offer an extra 20 to 25% more storage in the boot. It’s the new arrangement here that’s one of the key features of the model.

Open the rear barn doors and you’ll find full-width storage below the end of the beds, with no interruptions.

The space measures 1.80m by 72cm with a height of 77cm and if you need more (for bikes, perhaps), you can flip over the end of the mattress, lift the bed base and you have a full-height garage.

There’s easy access to the campervan utilities here, too – gas, inboard fresh water and the leisure battery.

Inside, the bedroom area beats most rivals because for much of the length of the bedroom (1.38m) there’s just one mattress filling the whole width of the campervan (1.81m wide).

It’s just at the foot of the bedroom where the beds divide, with a step between for ultra-easy access (it’s at the perfect height to sit and slip off your socks).

Both beds measure 1.90m in length. There’s room to sit up against the unglazed doors and reading lights are provided, as well as opening windows on either side for ventilation.

At the opposite end of the camper, the half-dinette bench is exceptionally well shaped for passenger comfort and there’s Isofix as standard. The full-height walk-through into the cab also includes an overcab sunroof.

In fact, there’s not much that isn’t included when you order your Pilote in Évidence trim.

The base vehicle comes with the automatic gearbox, front fog lights, electric parking brake, automatic air-conditioning, reversing camera, alloy wheels and the Safety Pack (adaptive cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, lane departure warning, etc).

Paint choice is either black or Lanzarote Grey at no extra cost. Externally, the Évidence also has an awning and two 100W solar panels, while the leisure battery is a 200Ah lithium unit.

Heating is from Truma’s 6kW diesel and 230V Combi. The kitchen comes with plenty of drawer-based storage and the 90-litre compressor fridge is mounted at waist height, so there’s no stooping to find the butter.

An oven is optional. Opposite, the washroom design isn’t new but it’s still one of our favourite features.

Here, the bench cassette toilet slides away and the washbasin folds vertically to give you much more room for showering than you expect in a panel van.

The storage is neat, too, with straps to keep your lotions and potions in place.

Highly commended

Dreamer D68 Fun

The campervan specialist brand from the Rapido Group has always offered a cheaper range, called Fun, for those on a tighter budget and the value offered by this D68 model is oh-so-obvious with a starting price of £55,900.

OK, you’ll probably want to upgrade to Fun+ spec (an extra £3,430) and add the gas oven (£800) but that still leaves this 6.36m-long Fiat campervan looking very keenly priced.

As a 20th Anniversary special edition, it comes with the automatic gearbox, an awning, 150W solar panel, cab blinds, electric step and a flyscreen for the sliding door.

It also comes with the Duo’Space swing-wall washroom and a full-height walk-through into the cab, while the rear beds are generous 1.92m and 1.98m long.

Other models may look plusher but this new Dreamer has everything you need at a lower cost.
