5 ways to Back British Holidays

Five ways you can Back British Holidays

You can help to turn the tide and support British holiday businesses, and make some fantastic memories at the same time!

Show your support for British holidays

The UK's domestic tourism industry is need of support, with annual visitor numbers falling by the millions and 300,000 jobs at risk – in short, British holidays need our help.

We're submitting a petition to Parliament calling for more support, but we're not waiting around to see what the response is. There's much more that we can all do to Back British Holidays.

Here, we've outlined five ways to both support UK tourism businesses and encourage more people to get out and about in British towns, cities and holiday parks.

Sign our petition

We are calling on the UK Government to take urgent action and support our ailing tourism industry. By signing our petition, you'll be adding your voice to this cause and showing your support for British tourism.

Our domestic tourism sector is predicted to lose millions of visitors over the coming years, leaving small businesses vulnerable and putting thousands of jobs at risk. The British holidays that we know and love could become a thing of the past, unless we act now.

Sign our petition to show the Government that you care about British holidays and help create real change.

Book a night at your local campsite

#2

Book a night at your local campsite

Whether you're sporting a motorhome, campervan, caravan or tent, we all dream of touring far and wide, exploring campsites on remote coastlines and escaping to the wilderness. There's real beauty and community to be found in your local campsite, though.

All campsites are struggling with rising costs and dwindling visitor numbers, particularly in rural areas. In fact, businesses in Britain's countryside are predicted to be the hardest hit by a downturn in domestic tourism. You can support campsite owners by booking a night at your local campsite – you may even discover that without a long drive to get there, you enjoy camping even more!

Make an occasion of the experience by cooking a fancy dinner at the campsite, walking into town for a drink, or just snuggling up in your 'van or tent for the evening. You'll have the warm glow of satisfaction from supporting a local business!

Visit a bucket list location in the UK

Visit a bucket list location

While supporting a local business can yield incredible rewards for both you and your community, venturing a bit further is an exciting possibility. There are plenty of 'bucket list locations' in the UK – you know, the kind of destination that you dream of visiting for years. Now it's time to make those dreams a reality!

Whether you're yearning for a Yuletide city break or hankering after a holiday in the great outdoors, there's an enormous range of epic locations to visit in the UK. Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, the summit of Snowdon, luxury treehouses in the New Forest – whatever your preference, there's plenty to explore.

Discover a bucket list location and be proud to support British tourism at the same time!

Enjoy a day trip in the UK

#4

Share your memories of British holidays

The reason we're so passionate about British holidays – and the reason we love outdoor leisure more generally – is we have incredible memories of these experiences as kids. From simple camping weekends to local sites to more epic motorhome holidays with grandparents, getting out and about in the UK is in our DNA.

The thing is, we're far from alone in that. Most of us have fond memories of British holidays from our childhood, whether you were building sandcastles at the beach or rolling down hills in National Parks.

Now, we're asking you to share those memories to help promote the fantastic experiences that British holidays can generate. In doing so, you'll be encouraging and inspiring more people to holiday in the UK, supporting our ailing tourism industry at the same time.
