Full review

Etrusco, which was launched into the UK by the massive Erwin Hymer Group in late 2018 in time for the 2019 season, has only been in existence for three years and was originally only sold in southern Europe and France before being rolled out across much of the rest of Europe.

Now we have it available on our shores and here we are looking at the 6.96m-long T 6900 DB low-profile motorhome (there is also a range of A-class models in the Etrusco line-up), which features a rear transverse double bed layout.

This rear bed is a good size (2.10m x 1.40m reducing to 1.30m at its narrowest) although, as it sits across the rear, it does mean one partner will need to get over the other when getting into and out of bed.

One of the benefits of this model over many competitors is this rear bed has the option to be specified as height adjustable, which means the garage below, which has a payload of 150kg and has optional dual-access, is able to accommodate full-sized bicycles when the bed is raised.

Just forward of this transverse double is a wardrobe and WC with corner sink and loo on the offside and a separate shower room and more storage opposite.

The entire rear area of the motorhome can be closed off from the front lounge and kitchen with a swing-across door ensuring a completely private bedroom and washing and dressing area.

Typical of the layout, there is a central kitchen split with the three-burner gas hob, circular inset sink and work surface with storage above and below on the nearside and the 167-litre fridge with 29-litre integrated freezer, and more storage on the offside, along with the entrance door, which has an integrated flyscreen.

To round things off, a central control panel is located above the fridge, allowing control the Truma Combi 6 E heating system among other things.

At the front is the lounge area, which incorporates the twin swivel captain’s seats in the cab and a forward-facing half-dinette bench seats (with two full three-point seatbelts) and a side chair, which can be a fifth belted travel seat as an option on the offside.

Above is the optional drop-down bed, measuring 1.95m by 1.40m (reducing to 1.10m at its narrowest) and a large skylight above the cab.

All the Etrusco motorhomes are built at the Erwin Hymer Group’s Laika factory in Tuscany, Italy. There are 10 models in total – seven low-profiles and three A-classes – which range in price from £47,022 to £62,706. This T 6900 DB sits right in the centre of the line-up at £51,473.

While it is the design that separates this Etrusco model from other Erwin Hymer Group brands, there is also a higher standard specification and an enhanced options list that also helps to set this new brand apart. The models sold in the UK also come with a higher standard specification than the rest of Europe, which sees us get ovens, carpets, enhanced heating (Truma 6 E) and larger fridges.

All sit on the 130bhp manual 3.5-tonne Fiat Ducato wide-track chassis, although there is an option to upgrade (£220) to the heavier 3,850kg chassis on all models.
