The Lyseo M Harmony Line (to give it its full title) is the most significant addition to the 2020 Bürstner portfolio as the ‘M’ stands for Mercedes. It’s a simple range of two models, with a choice of T 660 (French bed, shown here) or T 690 G with fixed twin beds over a garage.
Both are offered in 3,500kg form or uprated to 3,880kg for those with an appropriate licence and the desire for extra payload. Likewise, a 143bhp motor is standard, with 163bhp and/or Mercedes’ excellent automatic transmission as options. More importantly, it’s worth noting that Bürstner has selected the rear-wheel drive derivative of the new Sprinter for its Lyseo M.
It’s been quite a while since Bürstner offered a motorhome wearing the hallowed three-pointed star and probably nearly as long since a French bed layout took such a prominent position in the line-up. The constructor from Kehl hasn’t just dusted off old plans, however, but introduced some new thinking to the format. For a start, an angled wardrobe at the foot of the bed eases access for the sleeper on the wall side. More importantly, perhaps, the new T 660 has a Maxi-Flexo bathroom that incorporates a swing wall to create a huge (1.15m by 0.78m) shower cubicle.
Finally, the French bed itself boasts a 2.00m mattress length for those who’ve been on the rack. Of course, at a whisker under 7m, the Lyseo M is also more compact than many rivals with island bed floorplans, while at the same time offering surprisingly generous floor space around the galley and the foot of the bed. UK spec includes an oven/grill as well as the 142-litre fridge/freezer, while a drop-down double bed up front is an option.
Also, the majority of popular base vehicle options have been grouped into packs, with the Multimedia Pack and Chassis Pack included as standard for the UK.
