Full review

Brook Miller Mobility has teamed up with RP Motorhomes to design and produce a brand-new wheelchair-accessible motorhome based on the Fiat Ducato extra-long-wheelbase panel van.

At 6.39m long and 2.05m wide, it is of a size that can easily negotiate everything from winding country lanes to car parks, without feeling as cumbersome as some coachbuilts.

The all-new Liberation is a motorhome specifically designed with a wheelchair user in mind. Access to the vehicle and the internal dimensions and open-plan layout have been designed to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There’s a large floor area leading from the sliding door back to the rear fixed bed, under which a mobility scooter can be stored (with access via the back doors).

As each motorhome is made to order, specially for each customer, there are many options available. With nearly two decades of experience, Brook Miller Mobility will help customers get exactly the right mobility options. And, with many wheelchair users being eligible for VAT exclusion, this can also be a more cost-effective solution to motorhoming than adapting an existing vehicle.

Wheelchair entry to the Liberation is via an underfloor side lift which will raise the user up to floor level for entry and exit and stow away under the outside of the vehicle to leave the whole area behind the front two seats clear for wheelchair tie-down or storage whilst travelling.

The cab seats can be rotated and used for leisure seating, while a removable table can also be fitted here. The side-facing bench seat opposite the sliding door pulls out to make a single bed. In the rear of the vehicle is a raised permanent double bed with optional TV.

When not in use, the bathroom facilities are compact and stored behind folding doors, which then open out to create a large wetroom. The washroom area is fully appointed with a chrome mixer for the shower, a cassette toilet and both a roof vent and window.

The kitchen, along the offside, has a large workspace with pull-out chopping board, plus a three-burner cooker, oven, microwave and 97-litre three-way fridge. There are high-level cupboards in the living and kitchen areas and soft-close drawers, as well as additional under-bed storage.

The Liberation is also designed to be used all-year round. It comes with full insulation and includes triple-glazed sliding windows to eliminate condensation. A Truma Combi 4E boiler provides blown-air heating and hot water with power from mains electricity or gas from the underslung 25-litre LPG tank (for cheaper refills than bottled gas).

With a 115-litre inboard fresh water tank, all-LED lighting and the option of up to 150W solar panels and a 200Ah battery, the Liberation is also well able to cope with wild camping.

A vast range of adaptions is available for the Liberation, including entry equipment, underfloor and inboard lifts and driving controls from a simple steering knob to full technical devices. Inside, the company can fit overhead hoists, electric beds and many more options.
