THE high-specification Allegro 94 packs in a colossal amount of features large and small – but it’s the centre of the motorhome that perhaps might impress you most.
If, for you, the hub of family touring is the food department, this is a motorhome to consider.
The kitchen is L-shaped, with a generous amount cupboard storage in a pull-out cupboard fitted with three baskets. A wide and deep drawer unit gives you a large cutlery drawer and two further enclaves for stuff. Cooking equipment is a three-burner hob plus Dometic grill-oven – and there’s an extractor fan directly over the hob.
And washing-up equipment is luxurious – a big round sink and a separate drainer alongside it. But perhaps the greatest feature of this kitchen is the 175-litre fridge with separate freezer, sitting just behind the kitchen. That, together with the huge amount of cupboard storage, makes this motorhome one of the best in terms of kitchen storage.
And there’s more. Above the kitchen are two cupboards with reverse-curve doors.
This is where you start to notice the styling points of the French-built Allegro These doors are cream plastic, glossy and trimmed with chunky, metal-effect handles. Two spotlights are set into the metal-look plastic base of this wall cupboard and the gleaming black mirror-fronted fridge-freezer, with matching oven- grill above it, bounces light around as well as looking utterly stunning.
Style interest is everywhere – even the roof, which is coated in an attractive white patterned fabric.
Upholstery uses suede-effect plus boldest stripes and injections of shiny cream to create a living area that looks at once homely-cosy and designer-influenced.
The over-cab array of shelving gets the wow-factor, too, in the form of a series of irregular grey and paler grey shapes that create deeply pockets out of which stuff can’t fall when you drive.
In the shower room there are more surprises. The washbasin is a frosted green glass fruit-bowl shape. Two cupboards have metal-look roller doors.
And the shower, with curved, complete surround door, has a wooden seat!
The over-garage bed has two fixed steps up to it (no need to fiddle about with a ladder) and the steps don’t seem to get in the way of floor space.
We’ve been in the Allegro 94 for half a day at Lowdham Leisure World’s Nottingham branch and we’re still discovering surprises. There are two wardrobes, one forward of the shower room, the other between the fridge and the bedroom.
Four can travel in the Allegro 94 but only three can sleep. However, bring an awning or a tent and this motorhome becomes a very viable holiday base for a family of four, especially considering the capability of the kitchen.
Further back, more design excellence reveals itself as we investigate the garage.
It has doors on both sides, it’s huge – and made larger still by lifting up the bed. The garage doors lift up effortlessly on gas-filled struts – you just open the catches, give them a little push and the rest is done automatically, giving you plenty of headroom and, because the doors are top-hinged, they give you shelter from rain.
Hidden necessities involve a 140-litre fresh water tank and a 100-litre under-slung waste tank which is heated.
Space and water heating is by means of a Truma Combi unit.
As we sit back and admire the amount of finesse that surrounds you in the Allegro, with sunlight flooding in through the two huge roof lights that seem to occupy almost all of the cab and living area roof, we’re convinced this is a motorhome for the discerning touring family who want the best in refinements.
Big, practical, double-doored garage that would contain all the family’s cycles and much more, cosy bedroom up proper stairs – and one of the best kitchens in motorhomes anywhere.

Centred around the impressive kitchen the Allegro 94 works best as a two berth, although you could pack a tent in the garage if all four travel seats are used.
