IH broke the van conversion mould back in 2013 when its new N-Class was exclusively revealed in What Motorhome magazine. Here was a van-based motorhome that not only had its rear doors replaced by a one-piece GRP section with opening boot (long an IH trademark touch) but also swapped the sliding door for a coachbuilt-style entrance. Thus, extra interior space was created in the galley area, while the narrower door was at once easier to close and less like a commercial vehicle.

Until now, the N-Class has been based solely on the Fiat Ducato, but for 2020 you can have its features in combination with the superior drive and additional length of a Volkswagen Crafter. The new 680CRL is based on the 6.84m-long VW with 140PS engine as standard.

In Trendline trim, the Crafter has Composition Media with touchscreen, a multi-function steering wheel, Driver Alert System and Front City Assist emergency braking system. Options include a reversing camera and Climatic air-conditioning.

Inside, the new model has IH’s ever-popular rear U-shaped lounge with optional half-leather upholstery. There’s a wide choice of interior décor available, while added features include a four-metre awning with LED strip light, gloss locker doors and an 18.5in TV with Freeview and satellite decoder.

But the N-Class isn’t the only new campervan from IH for 2020, as they've also introduced the VW Crafter-based 680CFL front lounge model and revealed their first ever layouts with rear travel seats. These new four-seatbelt campervans are based on the Fiat Ducato in either ‘600’ six-metre or ‘630’ 6.36m form. Both have a rear lounge (long enough to convert into single beds in the 630) or, optionally, a rear fixed bed, while the rear travel seats are said to offer car-like comfort.
