The special-edition Swift Siena 4 SB, made to the specification of Grantham Caravans, has extras worth £2475 for just £999 more than the price of the standard Sprite Major 4 SB on which it’s based.

Full review

Grantham Caravans’ exclusive Siena range, named after the medieval city in the heart of Tuscany, is based on the Sprite range, with enhanced equipment levels and unique upholstery.

The Siena’s fabric scheme has a gorgeously sunny-holiday image created by the use of turquoise that conjures thoughts of blue skies and seas – in the Italian region of Tuscany, perhaps!

Touches of style and luxury are everywhere in Sienas. Two of the four cushions have the name Siena embroidered across a corner. The fixed-bed models have Siena-embroidered bed runners. And all models come with a set of three high-quality towels with the word Siena embroidered into the hem.

Enhanced security comes in the form of three security devices in addition to the standard Tracker system. They have a key fob-operated alarm system, plus an AL-KO Secure wheel lock and a Milenco hitch lock.

Other items in the exclusive package of extras include an exterior access hatch to the front nearside under-settee locker, a microwave and a big, wide sunroof that ensures the lounge is always light and bright. The combination of ample daylight coming in at roof level and the pale fabrics, plus the splashes of turquoise in cushions and curtains, ensured the Siena’s sunny holiday image even survived the extreme dull weather of our review day.

Siena is a range of charming caravans of character, and offering outstanding value for money. Our review example of the range is the transverse island bed Siena 4 SB, with extras amounting in value to £2475 for just £999 more than the price of the standard Sprite Major 4 SB on which it’s based (that’s £15,655 plus £545 delivery, making £16,200).

There are four models in the range; a two-berth, a six-berth and two with double beds.

The smallest is the Siena 2, based on the Sprite Alpine 2, with an end washroom, and a dresser opposite the kitchen, to give you extra kitchen space when you need it.

The six-berth 6 TD has a special “room” at the rear, a place the children can call their own; space to eat, to play – and, when playtime ends, to transform into a lovely cosy bedroom for four, with two bunk beds and two more bunks to be created opposite.

The Siena 4 is one of the most compact fixed-bed caravans on the market, with its bed on the offside and a corner shower-toilet room alongside. Our review example of the range, the Siena 4 SB, has the island-bed layout that’s fast becoming Britain’s most popular, which is why we chose it for this review.

Grantham Caravans first introduced the Siena special edition range for 2015. It proved to be so popular that, along with the 2016 Sienas, Grantham launched a second range of Sienas. These five models, called Siena Accent, are based on Swift’s Challenger range.

And all Sienas have the Swift Group’s new polyurethane timberless framed body shell. The floors have a protective GRP outer skin, and the roof is now made from hail-resistant GRP.
