Crusaders are the Elddis portfolio’s premium caravan models. The Zephyr is among three twin-axle models in the range.

Hitting your wallet at £28,764, including delivery, and tipping the scales at 1,800 kg MTPLM, the Zephyr fights its corner among high-spec caravans. Its fans are caravanners for whom ’van size and level of equipment are higher priorities than weight.

A transverse double bed sits at the rear of the ’van. A sliding door leads from the kitchen, past the shower room (nearside) and toilet (offside).

Each rear-bed occupant gets their own wardrobe, right next to the bed. These are tall and deep, and ample for a week away from home.

Small shelves below each of the wardrobes that flank the bed are tailor-made for morning coffee mugs — ticking luxury and practicality boxes! The bed mechanism enables you to shorten its length during the day to increase floor space.

The fridge-freezer is tower-style and almost domestic in its size at 155 litres. It sits opposite the main kitchen area, with the microwave above it. An extractor fan is well positioned to expel steam and odours from the kitchen.

Kitchen storage space is brilliant, with an array of cabinets and drawers, plus a cupboard opposite, alongside the fridge.

There’s more than a touch of opulence about this year’s Crusaders, with the Champagne shade of the sides also appearing in the curtain fabric and cushions that have a rather exotic, Oriental-inspired pattern. Well specced and well styled, the Zephyr is an eye-catching caravan.

Heating is Alde, complete with the Alde Load Monitor. Wheel locks, a 40-litre water tank and an Aquasource waterline to connect directly to a tap on a pitch are all standard. And Crusaders have what Elddis calls ‘Stargazer’ (very large) roof lights over the lounge.
