THANKS to its maximum technical permissible laden mass of 1325kg, the Coachman is no lightweight, but it’s noting that it can be towed with something like an Audi A4, provided you increase the kerbweight (lob a couple of beer barrels in the back you’ll be fine).
You may wonder why we’re bothering, considering the relatively high price of the Coachman - but that one’s easy to answer. It’s the good old Audi factor once more, where you have to appreciate the value of things rather than just know their price.
The Coachman is much like the Avondale in that it’s utterly conventional, but it’s also a little more exclusive than many other British-made ‘vans. With its
L-shaped kitchen and consequently relatively small washroom, the Pastiche is beaten by several ‘vans here when it comes to space efficiency.
However, it’s on the attention to detail that the Coachman scores, as well as the generous equipment levels which now includes a decent CD and DVD player.
It also includes 14-inch alloy wheels, an external gas point, awning warmer and AL-KO 3004 stabiliser. Perhaps the biggest drawback is the choice of bland interior colours - but that’s something you shouldn’t struggle to live with.
