THE 432PX is Adria’s least expensive offering.

It’s also the only Adria that the Ford Focus will pull, aside from the impossibly funky Action. Rather more conventional than the Action, the Altea is somewhat old-fashioned from the outside with its blue graphics and bluff nose - although the fact there’s no window in the front does make it look quite intriguing.

In effect the Altea is diametrically opposed to the similarly priced Eriba; that one focuses on style over space, while the Adria offers room for four in an understated package. In some ways Adria has sacrificed a bit too much style; not only is the design somewhat bland, but some of the interior detailing leaves you feeling underwhelmed.

If this all sounds like bad news, remember that for under £8,500 Adria is offering a four-berth fixed-bed ‘van with all the amenities you need. That means there’s a washroom, galley and lounge/sleeping area, all of which have the essentials but little more. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though; not everyone wants to have a load of money tied up in a ‘van that’s used sparingly - and you can always make the ‘van more homely if you want to.
