Midlands-based Kimberley Caravans & Motorhomes are expanding into the North East with the acquisition of the former Discover Leisure site and retail premises just off junction 58 of the A1.
Discover Leisure went into administration last October and the announcement that the seven-Acre Darlington site has been bought is good news for the region and for many former staff members.
With over 40 years in the industry, the management team of Nottingham based Kimberley Caravans is looking to rebuild the Darlington dealership to its former glory and plans to re-open its doors next month.
Managing director Chris Lowe, said: “We are delighted to have acquired this site given its location and size. We also know that the branch has many loyal customers, going back to when it was part of Barons, who will appreciate the care and attention of a family-run business.
“The economy is tough at the moment but from our experience, both through our existing site and our attendance at national exhibitions, we know caravanning is booming. However, customers are becoming more discerning and will look for the best service and price - this suits us perfectly.”
